2022 UK Football Schedule
The University of Kentucky football schedule is set for the upcoming season and it comes with lots of anticipation for the upcoming season! It will feature an opening game against the Miami University (OH) at Kroger Field in Lexington, KY. The Red Hawks play in the MAC Conference, finishing 7-6 this past season.

Week 2 will officially kickoff the Wildcats SEC opener, facing off against the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. The Gators own the series, but lost the last outing against UK in Lexington, therefore they’ll be looking to snap that streak. Especially, with the recent changes in their coaching staff, with Billy Napier presumably looking to establish his job security.
Week 3 brings the Youngstown State University football team to Lexington, with more non-conference games in the early 2021 football season. Thereafter, the Wildcats will host another non-conference opponent, Northern Illinois University.
For UK to have a historic season, they will need to pull off a win in that Week 2 game. However, the Kentucky Wildcats football schedule is only getting started when conference play starts heating up!

UK Football Schedule – Tough Stretch of SEC
Week 5 will bring Kentucky’s 2022 football season into the heart of SEC games. The Wildcats will travel to Oxford, Miss, to face off against University of Mississippi. Behind Lane Kiffin, the Ole Miss Rebels also went 10-3 last season finishing 11th in the final AP Poll. Therefore, they will be looking to build off that momentum in the 2022-2023 season!
The Wildcats will head back to Lexington in Week 6, when University of South Carolina make their way to Kroger Field. The Gamecocks finished last season with a record of 7-6. In Week 7, the UK football team will host Mississippi State University, who also finished 7-6 last season.

The Wildcat will get their typical BYE week following this stretch in Week 8. However, there is certainly more balance in the scheduling this year versus last season. Nonetheless, it will be in UK’s best interest to close out the first half of the season with 1 loss.
Next up is Week 9, a road game that brings the Cats to Knoxville, TN where they’ll face the Tennessee Volunteers. This is always a trap game when you’re heading to Knoxville, and the Volunteers pulled off a 45-42 upset last year, even though UK had a stellar season.

Another road game highlights Week 10, which takes Kentucky back to Tennessee. However, this matchup will be against Vanderbilt, a team in rebuilding mode who has struggled to find their identity.
The final SEC game of the 2022 Kentucky football schedule comes in Week 11 against the Georgia Bulldogs. This is inevitably the biggest game of the season, and will be hosted in Lexington. It gives the Kentucky football team a prime opportunity to put a stamp on their season and improve their odds in a bowl game.

Governor’s Cup: Kentucky vs Louisville
The 2022 Governor’s Cup featuring Louisville vs Kentucky football will be played in Kroger Field this season. This game didn’t happen in the 2020 season due to the pandemic. The SEC opted to omit all non-conference games, therefore it shelved. In the 2021 season however, Kentucky obliterated the Cards in Louisville. The final game score was 52-21, in a blowout win where Will Levis posterized a defender, borrowing one of Lamar Jackson’s hurdling moves while on the run. Set your calendars on this cross-state rivalry of Louisville vs Kentucky for November 26th.
This concludes the UK football schedule for the regular season. The Wildcats finished the 2021 season with a 10-3 record, under Mark Stoops. That follows a 2020 season, where the head coach led the Cats to an 5-6 season.
