UK Football Seniors Laced Up In Kroger Field One Last Time Against New Mexico State

The New Mexico State vs Kentucky football game was an outing to closeout home field in 2021 college football season. It was particularly anticipated for those guys in their fourth and final year of eligibility. This UK Football game would also be Senior Day for 22 Wildcats on the team. There were a host of pregame ceremonies to honor these student athletes as47,749 fans in attendance watched on at Kroger Field in Lexington, KY.

Game Final Score

The University of Kentucky vs New Mexico State football final game score was 56-16. This was a chance for the Wildcats to pickup some momentum, before they face-off against in-state rival Louisville next weekend.

Recap

The Kentucky Wildcats started the game with a sloppy turnover, fumbling a shotgun snap that New Mexico State would pickup for an easy touchdown. Fortunately, the UK defense wouldn’t give up any touchdowns the rest of the first quarter.

The Kentucky football offense would recover however, and put up huge numbers in the game. That started with 21 points in the first quarter alone. Tight end Justin Rigg would show out in his celebration of Senior Day, catching a career-high two touchdowns in the game. He got that started with an early touchdown to bring the game back to 7-7.

Another senior would pickup the next touchdown, except that would come from the defensive side of the ball. Senior Quandre Mosely would take a 38-yard interception for a pick-six to put UK up 14-7. This was Mosely’s first collegiate touchdown, on Senior Day! Chris Rodriguez would pound in another 6-yard run to close out the first quarter at 21-7.

The second quarter would see another senior contribute for a touchdown. Wide receiver Josh Ali would catch a 9-yard pass from Will Levis, and Rigg would take in his second touchdown on the day. TheNew Mexico State vs Kentucky football game would go to halftime with a score of 16-35.

The Kentucky offense wasn’t done there though. They would come out in the second half to put up even offensive yards. In fact, their performance of 707 yards of total offense was the second-most in Kentucky Football history!

Josh Ali would jumpstart that with a huge 62-yard pass from Will Levis, scoring his second touchdown on the night.The New Mexico State vs Kentucky football game would end at 16-56.
