The Kentucky football season opener against ULM was exactly what the Wildcats needed to set the stage for the upcoming 2021-2022 campaign! With 47,693 fans in attendance at Kroger Field in Lexington, Kentucky the new offense from Liam Coen stole the show.

UK Football fans were expecting fireworks from the passing game, which certainly didn’t disappoint. However, the overall offense was much more balanced. The defense added 6 sacks to create optimism on both sides of the ball!
Will Levis started off the game with an interception against ULM on the first drive which put the fans on the edge of their seat for a brief moment. This put UK down 7 points early. However, once the play-action diversions started, the Cats racked up several deep balls and never looked back.
The new quarterback transfer from Penn State was 18 of 26 on the day for 367 yards and four touchdowns. This marks the first time since 2016 that a Wildcat has thrown for over 300 yards, when Stephen Johnson last achieved the feat.
The Kentucky Wildcats finished with 560 yards of total offense, but the defense looked equally as impressive! This was the first time in 25 years that the UK Football program held a team under 100 yards.
Both wide receivers Wan’Dale Robinson and Josh Ali finished the Kentucky football season opener with more than 100-yards receiving. Additionally, Chris Rodriguez rushed for 125 yards on 19 carries that included a touchdown. He’s became one of the most stable pieces of the UK program over the last couple of seasons, and the balanced offense will seemingly only help him succeed going forward!
