Yellowstone Limited Edition 2021 Bourbon Release Announced

Limestone Branch Distillery out of Lebanon, KY recently announced their Yellowstone Limited Edition 2021 bourbon release. As of this article, you can find this 2021 Yellowstone Limited Edition bourbon for sale at your favorite liquor store. That’s if the bourbon hounds haven’t beaten you to it!

Yellowstone Limited Edition Releases

The latest Yellowstone whiskey release features a blend of 7-year and 15-year age statements and lands on our bourbon release calendar for an allocated drop. We review everything bourbon lovers need to know from price to proof. Also, you can score some new bourbon accessories to personalize your bourbon bar!

The Yellowstone bourbon Limited Edition expression has been an anticipated release out of Limestone Brand since 2015. These allocated bourbon whiskey releases are touted as doing something a little bit different than other distilleries. This one lands in the middle of the calendar year for the 2021 edition.

Review & Tasting Notes

Every year the Yellowstone Limited Edition offering presents fans with something a little different. The 2021 Yellowstone Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a blend of 7-year-old and 15-year-old bourbons.

The juice for this expression is hand-selected by Limestone Branch Master Distiller, Stephen Beam. Yes, that Beam. Not only that, his great-great-grandfather was another bourbon legend, J.W. Dant. Makes perfect sense why Stephan and his brother launched this project to produce fine small batch spirits.

What’s different about this release is that the 7-year-old bourbons were finished in Amarone casks. Finished whiskies have certainly increased in popularity, but this is somewhat an unconventional finish. Amarone is a rich red wine providing a unique barrel finish. The Limited Edition Amarone finish is used in the younger bourbons to compliment the juice more than twice its age.

“Amarone is a rich, red wine that – much like bourbon – takes time and patience to craft and requires at least two years in oak casks to age. Finishing select barrels in these Amarone casks brings notes of fresh cracked pepper and tobacco, as well as hints of black cherry, fig and dark chocolate to the classic bourbon notes of caramel, vanilla and hints of citrus,” explained Master Distiller, Stephen Beam. “With a finish of oxidized fruit, cherry and black currant, this bourbon is reminiscent of pre-Prohibition whiskeys.”

Lastly, Limestone Branch Distillery launched with a partnership with Luxco who held a 50% stake in the brand. Earlier this year Luxco was acquired by MGP Ingredients for $475MM.
