If you’re from the area, then you’re definitely familiar with 440 Main. Not only has it been around since 1994, but it doubles as a casual restaurant and upscale dining room. The building was built in 1871, and the original ceilings and staircase have been preserved. Originally, the building was built for John Getty and was constructed of local limestone and was sold as a dry goods and shoe store. In 1930, the thirst floor was turned into a skating rink which also served as a dance hall for the elite of Bowling Green and a basketball practice room. The Original Parakeet Café was located here in the 1940’s, and until 1992, was also home to the local Western Auto Parts Store. 440 Main is also home to “Mary the Ghost” who resides in a closet on the second floor!

The restaurant features local artwork and a New Orleans inspired vibe and menu via Chef Lee. Importantly, there is a weekly happy hour from Tuesday to Friday from 4-6PM featuring $5 Craft Cocktails, $3.50 Well Drinks, $2 Bottle Beers, $3.75 House Wine, $4 Margaritas, & $3 Off Appetizers.
