The “400-mile Sale” is an annual event that stretches from one side of the Bluegrass state in Maysville, KY to the other side in Paducah. This means it covers the entire Commonwealth, with many stops and sales along the way!

The 400 Mile Sale has been going strong since 2002 and continues to draw families from all over Kentucky—and beyond! From antiques to collectibles, tools and toys, shoppers will find all kinds of treasures to take home. Nearly every county in the state participates in the event, making it one of the largest yard sales in the country.

Some longstanding participants describe the sale as a holiday, a bit of nostalgia, but also an opportunity to create new memories for future storytelling!

History Behind 400 Mile Sale Kentucky

The 400 Mile Sale was established in 2004 by Debbie Spencer to showcase unique spots along the route. Leadership changed hands to Judy Spencer in 2019, and now Tara Hall is the Director as of March 2022. The sale has been held annually, but in 2020, we had to switch things up due to COVID-19.

This beloved Kentucky yard sale is sponsored by counties along the route, like Kentucky Lake/Marshall County Tourism, Cadiz/Trigg County Tourism, Visit Hopkinsville, City of Elkton, Logan County Tourism and Chamber of Commerce, the City of Auburn, Edmonton-Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce, Taylor County Tourism, Visit Lebanon, Perryville Main Street Association, Visit Harrodsburg, and Visit Jessamine. In 2023, they got their first-ever business sponsor, Perryville Outlet Furniture.

  • Importantly, a majority of the yard sale is outside and it is June. Be sure to pack snacks and beverages to keep your energy going!
