What distillery makes Remus bourbon?
If you’re wondering who makes Remus Whiskey, remember the nameRoss & Squibb Distillery. Brand equity will inevitably continue to grow in the coming years. That’s because a couple of years ago MGP and Luxco gave their 174-year-old distillery in Lawrenceburg, IN a new name: Ross & Squibb Distillery. This change pays homage to the rich distilling history in Indiana and is connected to two significant stories.
The name “Ross” is a tribute to George Ross, the founder of the Rossville Distillery in 1847. This distillery, which is now part of the Ross & Squibb Distillery campus, was one of the original distilleries in Lawrenceburg and one of the few that survived during Prohibition. It was well-known for producing excellent rye whiskeys, and it eventually inspired the creation of the Rossville Union Straight Rye Whiskey brand.
The inclusion of “Squibb” in the name refers to the historic Squibb Distillery, established in 1869 in Lawrenceburg and later acquired by Remus in 1921.
