Green River Distilling Co. Will Now Replace OZ Tyler Distillery in Owensboro, Kentucky – Here’s Why:
OZ Tyler Distillery was originally founded in 1880. John W McCulloch purchased the distillery site in 1885, naming it Green River Distilling Company. McCulloch began distilling his infamous Kentucky Moonshine “Mountain Dew” and “Green River Whiskey.” His spirits were highly sought after worldwide as he gained fame from winning awards at countless tasting events.
102 years later, the distillery is back! Over the years, the Owensboro distillery went through an array of changes including multiple owners, a massive fire, and of course Prohibition.

Terressentia Corp, the current owners of OZ Taylor has worked on getting the distillery back to it’s original name for more than six years. The CEO worked very closely with McCulloch’s great-grandson Rob during the process of renaming the site. Prior to the 2016 opening of OZ Tyler Distillery, the site was known as Old Charles Medley Distillery.
