Old Forester 1910 Extra Old Bourbon is the third 117 Series Release
The Brown-Forman distillery is releasing a pint sized unicorn for all of you 1910 lovers. This drop is officially dubbed the Old Forester 117 Series 1910 Extra Old bourbon release.

The Old Forester 117 Series gets its name from the distillery’s address, more specifically the Main Street number where it resides in Louisville, Kentucky. This New Bourbon release is part of a 375ml line that began in the spring of 2021. The first bottle released was High Angel’s Share, followed by Warehouse K, and now 1910 Extra Old. This release marks the first finished whiskey in that series.

We review everything whiskey lovers need to know from price to proof.Old Forester 1910 Extra Old takes a Straight Whiskey and finishes it in another cask for an additional aging period. This is similar to another Brown-Forman bourbon we just covered, Woodford Reserve Doubled Double Oaked.
“This release in The 117 Series is a curious exploration into the intensity of the proprietary heavily charred 1910 barrel,” Master Taster Jackie Zykan states. “This liquid was allowed to rest for 18 months in this secondary barrel, extracting significantly more of the heavily charred influence.”

1910 Extra Old gets its foundation from one of the distillery’s popular expression,Whisky Row Series Old Forester 1910.“On October 22, 1910, a fire on the bottling line halted the production of Old Forester. Mature whisky ready to be bottled was instead stored in a second barrel. What emerged was a delightful whisky, remarkable enough to become an entirely new expression – Old Fine Whisky,” states the distillery’s press release. The Whisky Row Series itself was launched in 2018, and immediately became a huge hit, selling the entire year’s supply in only three short months. Scaling to meet those demands however, the expression is easier to find on local shelves nowadays.
Review & Tasting Notes
TheOld Forester 1910 Extra Old release is the newest addition to the Old Forester 117 Series. The collection is essentially a special release program featuring unique expressions. This one in particular is a finished whiskey, albeit in another oak barrel to add more character.

Color
Nose
Aroma: On the nose, this expression showcases notes of dark brown sugar, sugared pecan and rich chocolate.
Palate
Taste: The palate brings with it a medium-bodied expression with a depth of warmth that swiftly transitions from sweet notes of intense caramel to the spice of dried tobacco.
Finish
A balanced ending that is gently rounded out with notes of green apple and raw walnut.

Release Date & Availability
TheOld Forester 117 Series 1910 Extra Old bourbon will begin to hit shelves February 23, 2022. It will be available in a limited number of retailers through the brand’s current national distribution zone, as well as the Brown-Forman gift shop in Louisville, KY.
Proof & ABV
TheOld Forester 117 Series 1910 Extra Old bourbon release is bottled at 93 proof. The93-proofing is the equivalent of 46.5% ABV. This is a common proofing for the Brown-Forman catalog, and shares the same proofing as the standard 1910 expression as well.
Mash Bill
The mash bill ofOld Forester 117 Series 1910 Extra Old bourbon is assumed to share the same recipe as the standard Old Forester 1910 expression. It has been known to use a 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley mashbill.

MSRP & Secondary Price
This 2022 Limited EditionOld Forester 117 Series 1910 Extra Old bourbon release is available in a 350ml bottle which resembles a similar looking bottle the distillery uses for the most of its releases. Old Forester 117 Series 1910 Extra Old bourbon has an MSRP of $50.
Suggested retail pricing is officially set for $50. However, with limited distribution, it’s yet to be determined what kind of secondary price we’ll see onOld Forester 1910 Extra Old bourbon for sale.
