Childers selected a band that was able to achieve a timeless bluegrass mountain pickin’ sound one that would be heard over 100 years ago. The band features Dom Flemons (Grammy Winner), Chloe Edmonstone, Jesse Wells. John Haywood, Andrew Marlin, Josh Oliver, Cecilia Wright, John R. Miller, Jenny Lynn, and “Big Head Joe.”
The album closes with “Long Violent History” where Childers’ asks Kentuckians to feel for those in their situation of what is currently taking place in the world, asking them to put themselves in the same situation.
Although the surprise release features/focuses on fun bluegrass folk-y characteristics, it is also one that leans more towards a serious politics tone, expressing our current environment. This really shines through in “Long Violent History.”
