Lexington City Center Officially Open

The Lexington City Center and Marriott and Residence Inn had its official opening and ribbon cutting on Wednesday afternoon.

Although portions of the building such as restaurants and shops have been open for quite some time, the project is finally complete! It’s been a long time coming, and certainly something locals have been excited about. The governor and mayor spoke at the grand opening making references to as to how much the official opening of the Lexington Marriott City Center means to the city and to Kentucky tourism.

“People who came to Lexington several years ago said, ‘do you still have that big giant hole in the ground?’ and we say no,”. “It is filled in with really fabulous businesses and we are so proud of the work that was done here.”

Following the ceremony, tours were given. Additionally, with over 400 rooms between both hotels, surrounding businesses seem very excited about the potential business and economic boom this could bring to them!

Now that the Lexington City Center is officially open, travelers can enjoy trendy restaurants within walking distance. The center is conveniently located minutes from the University of Kentucky, Lexington Convention Center, Rupp Arena, Keeneland, and UK Good Samaritan Hospital.
