Pumpkin Meets Bourbon to Create the Ultimate Fall Cocktails
Pumpkin spice, and bourbon on ice. We’re calling on all bourbon lovers to show their cozy side with our list of pumpkin infused bourbon cocktails.
Being that it’s fall, we’re certainly taking our pumpkin spice choices seriously while getting into the spirit (no pun intended.) We’ve selected a list of delicious cocktails for you to try below, because we couldn’t just pick one from the batch as a favorite.
Let’s face it, bourbon tastes good with just about anything.

Whether you’re enjoying alone by the fire, or mixing these up to impress your close friends and family at Thanksgiving dinner, these cocktails will make you think and feel like a God/Goddess. 1. PUMPKIN OLD FASHIONED
INGREDIENTS
- 1 & 1/2 ounces of Bulleit Bourbon
- 1/2 ounce of Grand Marnier
- 2 Tablespoons pumpkin puree
- 1 ounce of maple syrup
- Dash of Aromanitc bittes
- Garnish with Orange Peel and Rosemary Sprig
INSTRUCTIONS
- Gather all ingredients
- Combine bourbon, orange liqueur, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and bitters in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake well and double strain through a mesh strainer into a chilled glass filled with fresh ice.
- Garnish with rosemary sprig and orange peel
- Serve & Enjoy.

2. PUMPKIN BOURBON CIDER
INGREDIENTS
- 2 parts Basil Hayden’s® Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- 3/4 part fresh Lemon Juice
- 1/2 part Vermouth, Sweet
- 1/4 teaspoon Superfine Sugar
- 3/4 part Pumpkin Puree
- 6 dashes Angostura® Bitters
- 2 parts Hard Cider, Dry
- Garnish with fresh, grated Nutmeg
- Garnish: Cinnamon Stick
INSTRUCTIONS
- Combine pumpkin puree, superfine sugar, sweet vermouth, bitters and lemon juice into a mixing glass. Stir until sugar is nearly dissolved
- Add bourbon and ice.
- Stir well and strain into cocktail glass.
- Top with dry hard cider.
- Garnish with grated nutmeg and the cinnamon stick.
3. PUMPKIN PIE BOURBON SMASH
PUMPKIN PIE SYRUP
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS
- Heat the sugar, water, pumpkin puree and pie spice in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk until sugar dissolves and let the mixture come to a simmer. Remove from the heat and let it cool slightly, then add the vanilla extract. Strain it through a fine mesh strainer so you’re left with a syrup consistency.
PUMPKIN PIE SMASH
- crushed ice
- 2 to 3 tablespoons pumpkin pie syrup
- 2 dashes cocktail bitters
- 2 ounces Jim Beam (or bourbon of choice)
- cinnamon stick for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
- Fill a chilled glass with crushed ice and add the pumpkin syrup and bitters over top. Pour in the bourbon and garnish with a cinnamon stick. Serve!
4. Pumpkin and Chocolate Bourbon Cocktail
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 oz. Makers Mark Bourbon (or bourbon of choice)
- 1/2 oz
- Chocolate liqueur
- 1/2 oz. Coffee liqueur
- 1/2 oz. Creme de cacao
- 1 oz. Unsweetened pumpkin puree
- 2 oz. Milk
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Ice
For the Rim:1 Tablespoon corn syrup & halloween sugar of choice
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Pour a tablespoon or two of the rimming sugar into a shallow bowl.
- Brush the edges of a cocktail glass with the corn syrup and roll in the rimming sugar.
- Place in the freezer for a few minutes to firm up while you make the drink.
- Add the bourbon, chocolate liqueur, coffee liqueur, cream de cacao, pumpkin puree, milk and cinnamon to a cocktail shaker.
- Muddle the puree until it’s dissolved into the liquid, fill with ice and shake well.
- Pour into the prepared glass & enjoy!

5. Pumpkin Spice Manhattan
Pumpkin Spice Simple Syrup
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
COCKTAIL
- 2 ounces Elijah Craig (or bourbon of choice)
- 1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
- 2 to 3 dashes bitters, such as Angostura
- 1 apple slice, for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
- For the pumpkin spice simple syrup: In a large glass container with a tight fitting lid, combine the sugar, pumpkin pie spice and 1 cup warm water. Cover and shake vigorously until the sugar dissolves
- For the cocktail: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the bourbon, vermouth, bitters and 1 ounce of the pumpkin spice simple syrup. Cover and shake vigorously. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with the apple slice.
6. THE PUMPKIN FLIP
INGREDIENTS
- 3/4 ounce egg white (about 1)
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 3/4 ounce maple syrup
- 1 bar spoon prepared caramel
- 1 bar spoon pumpkin puree (the canned stuff used for pumpkin pie)
- Ground cinnamon, for garnish
- Grated nutmeg, for garnish
- Dash salt, for garnish
- Orange zest, for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
- Place only the egg white in a shaker with no ice and shake vigorously. This is known as the “dry shake” method; it froths the egg white to give the cocktail more body and better foam. Next, add the bourbon, maple syrup, caramel and pumpkin and shake vigorously with ice.
- Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with cinnamon, nutmeg, a dash of salt and orange zest.
