Youngstown State traveled to #9 Kentucky to face the Cats at Kroger Field
The Youngstown State vs Kentucky football game was bad timing for the visiting team. Following a huge win last week by the Wildcats over Florida, UK Football moved into the Top 10 of college football rankings. Following that early season test, this game was certainly less anticipated. However, the Wildcats would still be without one of their best veterans, running back Chris Rodriguez.

Recap
The Kentucky Wildcats returned to Kroger Field in Lexington, KY to continue their winning streak to open the college football season. They would attempt this without their veteran running back and second-leading rusher in the SEC last, Chris Rodriguez. With that being said, Will Levis and the Wildcat offense certainly didn’t burst out of the tunnel with a stellar performance.
While the Cats did put together drives to begin the game, they were also peppered with sacks and missed opportunities. As for the projected first-round draft pick, Levis got more comfortable as the game progressed. Today at least, the defense would get all of the credit while holding Youngstown state to a shutout!

Nonetheless, one Wildcat who is getting off to a great start with his career at UK is Bluegrass native Dane Key! He’s off to a fantastic start to his college career, and he’s establishing himself as a staple to the offense this season. Key has now scored in each of his first three games as a Wildcat, and is quickly becoming one ofWill Levis’ favorite options.
The Kentucky football team as a whole put up 377 yards in the air, with an additional 103 yards on the ground. Kavosiey Smoke led the rushing efforts, while a slew of wideouts contributed to the assault by air. Dane Key led the group of wide receivers with 90 yards and a touchdown. Also, don’t forget — We Run The Swamp!
This marks the first time in college football history that the blue bloods including, Kansas, Kentucky, UNC, and Duke have started the season 3-0!
