Woodford Master’s Collection 2020 Features Some Of Distillery’s Oldest Bourbon

Woodford Masters Collection 2020 Bourbon

Woodford Master’s Collection 2020 Blends Whiskey Up To 17 Years Old

As we wrap up the bourbon release calendar for the year, Woodford Reserve drops a rare bottle for bourbon hunters to add atop their list — Master’s Collection Old Fine Rare Bourbon. Woodford Master’s Collection 2020 utilizes some of the distillery’s oldest bourbon, blended with juice that is up to 17 years old.

However, the 17-year age statement isn’t displayed prominently on the bottle, but Woodford Reserve doesn’t typically attempt to make age-statement whiskeys in their product lineup. Also, there’s the assumption that Master’s Collection 2020 is presumably blended with some younger whiskeys as well to give it the precise characteristics product development was aiming for. Nonetheless, it is rumored that this is actually the oldest juice in Woodford Reserve’s possession, dating back to Master Distiller Chris Morris’ first year in the position. Morris states, “While Woodford Reserve will always honor the past, this Master’s Collection is about the present and future.”

For those bourbon lovers who have followed the Master’s Collection through the years, the first thing they may notice is the change in bottle design for the 2020 release. The “pot still” style bottle that can be found on other Master’s Collection releases such as the 2019 Chocolate Malted Rye, will be replaced with a bottle that looks more similar to their hero product. Which do you personally prefer? Another update for this bourbon release is that it will officially feature Assistant Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall for the first time.

The Master’s Collection Very Fine Rare Bourbon is rated at 90.4 ABV, and will be hitting distribution outlets this month. If you’re lucky enough to spot this rare bottle release in the wild, expect MSRP to be around $130, however we know what that can become once the secondary guys start inflating the prices.
