Importantly, they offer hotel and bed-and-breakfast lodging and two unique restaurants all in a quaint little town with a population 353 people. Step back in time as waitresses wear unique uniforms reminiscing the 1880’s.

The Story Behind Patti’s Settlement

In 1975, Patti Tullar and Bill fell in love with the town of Grand Rivers and purchased the Grand Rivers Motel for $19,000. Shortly after, in 1977 they decided to start Hamburger Patti’s Ice-cream Parlor due to Patti’s love for cooking. Over the years, the concept has transformed into so much more. Today, the restaurant serves over 1 million dollars of their famous pork chops every year!

What is Patti’s Settlement Famous For?

Patti’s Settlement is famous for their 2 inch “accidental” pork chops, mile high meringue pies, Bills Boatsinker pie, and flowerpot bread! Additionally, they are also famous for their 1.5 million Christmas light show.

The Story Behind the 2″ Pork Chop:

Like most earth shaking inventions, the creation of the 2-inch thick Patti’s Charbroiled Pork Chop is surrounded by a cloud of controversy. Mr. Bill claimed the pork chop was the result of trying to make a pork schnitzel. Miss Patti on the other hand, contended the charbroiled delight stemmed from another dish. Regardless of its beginning, popular opinion confirms that Patti’s Pork Chop is a super success story. – Patti’s 1880 Settlement
