Kentucky wins big against Tennessee for the first time since 1984!
The University of Kentucky football team snapped a 17-game losing streak against #18 Tennessee today in Knoxville, with a 34-7 victory. This was Kentucky’s largest margin of victory in the Kentucky vs Tennessee football rivalry series since 1935. This happened when Coach Neyland, which the stadium today’s game was named after, was away on active duty in the military.
Nonetheless, the real winner here was the UK defense, forcing 4 turnovers in the first half alone! This stifling defense was also responsible for putting the first 2 touchdowns of the game on the scoreboard. This same defense has now tallied up 9 interceptions over the last 2 games alone.
The Kentucky offense found their own rhythm during the 3rd quarter, when Terry Wilson found Allen Daily in the endzone. This pushed the Kentucky vs Tennessee lead to 24-7 with 7:24 remaining in the quarter.
This win for Kentucky vs Tennessee football marks an upward turn by the UK program, which started the season at 0-2 after a couple of tough defeats. Do you think this will be enough to bring the program back into the AP Top 25 next week?
