Kentucky finds its three point shot, wins big over Lamar.
After having a couple of slow starts, Kentucky came out strong against Lamar and jumped to a 15-2 lead. Lamar closed the gap however, but Kentucky made another 22-2 run to go into halftime at 41-21. UK led by as much as 25 points, but Lamar hit a few big threes to make the final score score 81-56.
The breakout in Kentucky’s three point shooting gave the Wildcats a huge edge. Freshman Tyrese Maxey came out in the first half with 4 three point field goals of his own, and team had a total of 7 three pointers in that half. Prior to this game, the Wildcats had only hit 6 in all games combined! Kentucky finished the game 10 for 21 from behind the arc, for a 45% performance.
Maxey led all Wildcats with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Nick Richards tallies another double-double, with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Ashton Hagans had a three point breakout of his own, going 3 of 4 from behind the arch. He added 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 9 assists. Quickley, Brooks, and Montgomery contributed another 11, 9, and 7 points for the Wildcats.
