The Cornerstone Exchange at University of Kentucky

What used to be the infamous Kennedy’s Bookstore in downtown Lexington will shortly be the home of The Cornerstone Exchange. The University of Kentucky will now have a mixed use space consisting of much needed parking, retail, and most importantly – BEER! The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2020.

Official confirmed retailers are West Sixth Brewing (first official spot to get beer on campus), The Cornerstone, Rolling Oven, and A Cup of Commonwealth. The project is playing a strong focus on featuring Kentucky based companies. Here’s the best list of products that are made in Kentucky.

Additionally, The Cornerstone Exchange will house 900 new parking spaces, a University of Kentucky e-sports center, and retail space amounting to 10,000 square feet.

The ground level will consist of the multi-vendor dining area. The space’s e-sports theater will feature 100 retractable theater-style seats. An e-sports gamers lounge will offer more than 50 PC-based gaming units and multiple console-play areas.

The main vision for The Cornerstone Exchange at the University of Kentucky is to create an open, creative space for all while using technology to maximize student success and create community.

“We are very excited to announce both the name The Cornerstone, which underscores the importance of this facility as a doorway to our campus, and our relationship with these local businesses,” said UK Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration Eric Monday. “Each of these organizations has a strong connection to, and engagement with, the local community. They reflect the kind of supportive, collaborative environment we plan to create in this space.”
