Southern travel to Lexington to face #10 Kentucky Basketball
The Southern vs Kentucky basketball game was a home game in Rupp Arena for the Wildcats. A total of 18,947 fans showed up at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY to see the UK bball game on Monday night. That was a slight bump from some earlier games, however season ticket holders in the lower level are still a bit hesitant to attend the games like they would without a pandemic in mind.

The Kentucky basketball team would be looking to extend their winning streak to seven games, after dropping the season opener. This would also be a reunion for Southern head coach Sean Woods. He happens to be in theUK Athletics Hall of Fame, as a member of“The Unforgettables” where he was a four-year player at theUniversity of Kentucky from 1989-1992.

The Southern vsKentucky basketball final game score was 64-76. Although the Wildcats won the game, it was a close matchup where Coach Cal suggested his team got out-worked and out-coached in the game.

UK Basketball entered this game ranked No. 1 in the country for rebounding margin against opponents. That trend would be a constant in this game as well, finishing with a plus-16 margin against Southern. Total rebounds in the contest were 41-25 in the Cats favor. That moves their season average margin to plus-19, outrebounding every opponent this season.
More on that note, Oscar Tshiebwe, the nation’s leading rebounder would produce another double-double on the season with 23 points and 13 rebound. That makes his seventh double-double on the year.
TyTy Washington Jr. would be the second-leading scorer for the University of Kentucky on the night. This marks the seventh straight game he’s put up double figures, scoring 14 points on the night.
The Wildcats shot 28-of-57 from the floor, and 6-of-20 from behind the arch. That is not one of their best games in regards to field goal percentage, however 49.1% overall shooting and the rebounding margin allowed them to pull this one out.
