How Tyler Herro Spend His First $1 Million

Former University of Kentucky Basketball Player Tyler Herro Shares How He Spent His First $1 Millon in the NBA in GQ Sports Interview

Undoubtedly, Tyler Herro hasn’t always been a millionaire. The NBA Miami Heat player grew up in Milwaukee and recalls his first job with his father as a snow plower making $10 an hour. When playing for the University of Kentucky, Herro’s spending habits would include going to the mall, shopping at PacSun and going to the movies. He sits down with GQ Sports to talk about his financial life changes, and reminisces on the items and days where he wasn’t able to spend as much as he can now as he stacks the $1 Million in cash sitting on a table in front of him as he is being interviewed.

Now, Tyler Herro has adjusted to the warm weather and lifestyle of Miami after signing his first year contract for $3.6 million with the Miami Heat. So much so, the Tyler Herro haircut has even taken shape of its own. During his GQ interview, he chuckles and mentions the fact that he loves not having state income tax. Although excited about his hard work paying off, the basketball player knew he had to get a financial advisor to come up with a long term plan to set him up for the rest of his life. Being that his job is physically demanding, Herro has goals of setting aside post career money.

“You Need to be Smart with How You Spend Your Money.”
