SEC Tourney Semifinals matchup sees Kentucky vs Tennessee matchup
The SEC Tournament heats up as the Kentucky vs Tennessee basketball game is a rubber match and the Wildcats second postseason game of the 2021-2022 college basketball season. In this year’s regular season in the South Eastern Conference, each of these teams gave the other a formidable defeat. This would be the matchup to settle the score.

Kentucky came into the SEC Tournament as the No. 3 seed, which is somewhat ironic since Joe Lunardi has them as his No. 5 overall seed in the NCAA overall. The No. 1 seed Auburn got knocked out earlier in the day, so UK and UT are the highest seeded teams remaining. Tennessee would come into the game as the No. 2 seed and No. 9 overall.

The Wildcats got down early, and couldn’t seem to get the offense going for multiple reasons. The UK big man, Oscar Tshiebwe picked up 2 fouls with nearly 10 minutes remaining in the first half and ultimately played less than 25 minutes in the game. He would foul out of the game with 3:37 remaining, producing 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots.
This would be the least minutes of any starter, which included Sahvir Wheeler, TyTy Washington Jr., Kellan Grady, Keion Brooks Jr. and Oscar Tshiebwe. Grady couldn’t seem to find his rhythm from behind the arc, going 1-for-8 from the field.
The Wildcats shot 22-of-64 from the floor, and 2-of-20 from behind the arch. That equals 34.4% from the field shooting, and 10% from behind the three point line. The Cats shot the ball well from the charity stripe, going 16-22 at 72.7%.

Kentucky moves to 26-7 on the season, while Tennessee is 25-7. Both teams will move onto the NCAA Tournament, and this game could have big implications when it comes to tourney seeding.
