As of now, this week’s SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament is still on at Bridgestone Arena.
The 2020 SEC Tournament is still on — with preventive measures aimed at the coronavirus. Despite the recent NCAA cancellations, the tournament is scheduled to start Wednesday and run through Sunday’s championship game; however, it has officially been announced that fans will no longer be allowed to attend.
Tonight, fans entered as planned, yet the remainder of the tournament will be fan free. To no surprise, Kentucky sold out its allotment of 2,200 tickets. Whether all of these Wildcat fans (plus the ones that got tickets elsewhere) will migrate and flood the streets of Broadway is also questionable. Not only our beloved Kentucky fans are worried, but many other SEC team super fans have planned for months in advance to attend.
Those traveling in are taking precautions by bringing wipes and sanitizer. Additionally, the arena, broadway, and all bars have taken extra coronavirus precautions. Broadway may have to prepare for much larger crowds as many say they plan on staying or traveling into enjoy the games with other fans at local bars.

SEC Tournament Still On, Precautions Being Taken:
The SEC announced it would be taking precautions including using hospital-grade disinfectant to sanitize locker rooms, game balls, team benches, and cheerleader seating areas. Meanwhile, Bridgestone Arena announced it’s doing weekly deep cleanings of common surfaces like handrails, buttons, and elevators.
At the end of the day, all we can do is hope that all attendees are smart, safe, and that the Wildcats bring home a big W.
