What is a NFT?
NFTs or non-fungible tokens are unique digital items. Backed by the blockchain, ownership is easily verifiable and they can be sold and bought in a transparent and secure fashion. Technically, it can contain anything digital including drawings, animated GIFs such as the one below, songs, or even items such as skins in video games.
NFTs can be a one-of-a-kind item, such as the original painting of the Mona Lisa. However, they could be one copy of many within a series, such as baseball cards or an official screen printing from your favorite artist. Unlike baseball cards however, the blockchain will verify that it is not a replica, and also who has ownership of that asset.

Everyone (21+) who minted the Party Horses Pregame NFT on March 1st can redeem it for one limited edition Maker’s Mark bottle of bourbon. This set of 2,000 Pregame NFTs were given away to early adopters, you just had to pay the small transaction fee, otherwise known as Ethereum Gas. This fee supports the infrastructure of the blockchain itself.
These “free” bottles of Maker’s Mark x Party Horses bourbon have already soared up to $400 in some secondary markets. Most importantly though, there’s more bourbon to come! That’s if, you own the Party Horses NFT that drops on March 15th.
Maker’s Mark has been touted by the NFT team as the best partner ever for this project. They have agreed to print off 1-of-1 labels for surprise releases. Additionally, there were 100 Maker’s Mark Ambassadors who were invited to participate through Maker’s Mark Distillery itself.
Exclusive Access to In-Person Events
NFT holders will have the opportunity to participate in private parties from New York City or St Barth’s to events hosted on their home turf in Horse Country itself — Kentucky. Some of the best horse farms in the world could be the next setting for a Party Horse meetup withPOAPs (Proof of Attendance Protocols).
The Party Horses NFT will host its first official event during the 148th Kentucky Derby weekend on May 6th. This NFT will grant you unprecedented access to a private party, and your NFT itself will be your ticket to entry. This exclusive pre-Derby event will feature an open bar and Grammy-winning artist Diplo, and DJ Irie who is a staple in the Miami scene. More A-list artists are expected to be added to the bill.
If you’ve ever been to the Kentucky Derby Festival, you know the city of Louisville becomes a month-long party. Derby parties become a draw of locals and A-list celebrities alike. Access to these private events can set you back a few hundred dollars, to a few thousand.
Communiity
Just the same as any Facebook Bourbon Group, Web3 moves that trend into a Discord server which eliminates the unfavorable governance of FB and allows the group itself to make their own. Your actions are less restricted by an algorithm from a company that may not quite understand your community even. Plus, you may also get benefits for participation alone, which could lead to Party Horses community roles.
In this instance, if you’re a holder of a NFT you can chime into the conversation and actually have a voice in the project’s direction. The Party Horses Discord voted on 1-of-3 of the Maker’s Mark bottle labels for this limited release.
Other cool community features will come in the form of Web3 technology itself, such as the smart contract associated with your personal NFT and its attributes. Example, Party Horses will airdrop a special accessory to all NFT holders who “Win” the derby. To clarify, if the actual Derby-winning rider’s number is inscribed into your smart contract on the NFT.
Moreover, an additional 200 NFTs will be reserved for community and marketing events. For example, 100 NFTs will be given away during parties and other marketing events. Another 100 NFTs will be placed in the community treasury for future utility as the community sees fit.

The idea stems from entrepreneurs Justin Delaney and Brook Smith, combining their love for art, culture, new technology, philanthropy, business, and racehorses.
Justin Delaney is a serial entrepreneur and successful multi-exit CEO. While Brook Smith is a successful entrepreneur, philanthropist, and prolific racehorse owner. These two teamed up with software engineer, Izaak Prats, whose resume includes Meta (formerly Facebook). This project also consists of Chris Wiedmar, co-founder and COO, The project also consists of a team of award-winning designers, Louisville event planner Joey Wagner, and local artist Robby Davis.
