The NC State vs Louisville Women’s Basketball score was a surprise to even those expecting a great game! That is, except for NC State themselves. This was their second win against a #1 ranked team. The Wolfpack traveled to the city of Louisville in this road game however to pull off the upset. This marks the first loss of the season for the Cardinals. NC State bounced back, after suffering their first loss of the season in the game prior.
UofL lost the game in the paint, being outrebounded 44-29. They were also outscored by North Carolina State University in the paint, 36-18.
The top performers for the Wolfpack included Jada Boyd, Elissa Cunane, and Jakia Brown-Turner. Each of those players scored 16 points for NC State. Moreover, Raina Perez added another 15 points in the win. As for the Cardinals, Dana Evans tried everything she could to keep Louisville in the game. She led all scorers with 29 points for UofL.
How will this effect the Louisville Women’s Basketball ranking going forward? NC State has a shot at jumping ahead of them in the AP Top 25. However, they just lost a game of their own, so that is yet to be determined. Meanwhile, the Cardinals can’t fall too rapidly with just one blemish on their record to date. They’re still leading the Atlantic Athletic Conference with a significant margin. UofL sits at the top with a 9-1 record. NC State is in second in the ACC with a 7-1 record. Nonetheless, this matchup should be fun all season long!
