The Kentucky basketball team has increasingly looked slightly different over the last couple of game due to injuries. CJ Fredrick is out for the season, Jacob Toppin has been out since the Duke game with a shoulder injury, and now Lance Ware is dealing with an ankle injury.
Now back to the things that remained constant in the Mount St. Mary’s vs Kentucky basketball game —OscarTshiebwe! He is solidifying himself as the man on this team, across the SEC, and history books even!
He is now the only SEC player to grab 56 rebounds over a 3-game span in the last 25 years of college basketball in the conference. Those happen to be the first games he’s suited up for playing for a team in South Eastern Conference, and he has a full season ahead of him.
He’s also the only player since Julius Randle to record a double-double in rebounds and points in the first three games to start the Kentucky basketball season. Randle was able to continue his streak for seven games, so we’ll see how long Oscar can keep up the pace. Nonetheless, it appears likeTshiebwe may have a few more record-breaking opportunities ahead of him!
Game Final Score

For one guy keeping score at home, he bet $220,000 for the Wildcats to cover the 24.5 margin! Zan Payne took it the length of the court after a steal to seal the deal.

Recap
The Kentucky Wildcats move to 2-1 on the season which doesn’t seem like much to write home about. However, to put things into perspective, the UK basketball team didn’t get their second win of the season until January last year. To further lament that point, Kentucky is now above .500 for the first time since November 25th, 2020.
Kentucky would outrebound theMount St. Mary’s squad 41-27, with Oscar Tshiebwe pulling down 16 rebounds of his own. His outstanding performances has allowed the Wildcats an advantage of 14 rebounds per game over their opponents thus far this season.
After missing a ton of shots in the game against Duke, resulting in only 37.7% from the field, Kentucky has now put together two consecutive games with an average shooting percentage of more than 50% from the field. They were 53.1% for this game againstMount St. Mary’s.
The Wildcats cooled off slightly from the previous game from 3-point range, however they still shot 40% on 4-of-10 attempts from behind the arc. UK would also connect on all 8 of their free throw attempts, which moves them to 15-of-16 over the last two games.
Four of Kentucky’s players would finish the game in double figures scoring. Kellan Grady was 2-of-3 from 3-point range to finish with 8 points. Meanwhile, the rest of the starting five logged 10 or more points.
Tshiebwe logs anther game averaging a double-double, albeit early in the season, if he can keep up the pace! He pulled down 16 rebounds and 24 points.
