Mississippi State vs Kentucky Basketball Game Goes to Overtime
The Mississippi State vs Kentucky basketball game required an overtime to decide a winner in this SEC matchup at Rupp Arena. Prior to the game, some analysts suggested this could be a “trap game” for the Wildcats. With an already limited roster coming into the game, UK was in for a challenge without TyTy Washington Jr. and his scoring prowess. However, during the game, Jacob Toppin would go down an an ankle injury of his own, compounding those depth issues.

Recap
UK Basketball entered this game ranked No. 12 in the country, dropping a few spots after their loss to Auburn last Saturday.
With a lack up of depth in their roster for this game, Kentucky sharpshooterTyTy Washington Jr. would be watching from the sidelines. The Wildcats would try to replace his scoring with a four other players producing double figures.
Oscar Tshiebwe would have another monstrous performance, putting up 21 points with 22 rebounds! This would be the first 20-20 game for the University of Kentucky since 1976 when Mike Phillips achieved the impressive feat. This marks his 14th double-double of the season, which ranks third nationally in the category.
The Wildcats shot 31-of-66 from the floor, and 6-of-23 from behind the arch. That equates to 47% from the field shooting, and 26.1% from behind the three point line. Certainly not Kentucky’s best shooting performance by any means! The Cats did shoot better from the free throw line however, going 14-20 at 70%.
Kentucky moves to 16-4 on the season, and 6-2 in the Southeastern Conference standings.
