Moreover, after some up and down games, all American guard Dana Evans tied her career high with a much needed breakout game. The two time ACC player of the year put UofL on her back with a 29 point performance on the offense of end.
Evans went 11 of 21 from the field on this big night. This included going three of eight from behind the arc. This was a stark difference from the prior to postseason games, where Evans was just averaging 13 points a night.
The Louisville Women’s Basketball guard said, “my teammates are the best. They are always there for me and keep me going. They never let me get my head down and I just came out and played hard for them and wasn’t ready to go home.”
In addition to this career performance, the Cards also got help from Kianna Smith and Hailey Van Lith also returned to her old self. Smith added 11 points on the offensive end, while Van Lith scored eight points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Ultimately, U of L jumped on Oregon early in the game and never let up. The offense spread the tempo up and attacked off of the bounce. However, the Cardinals defense also played a huge role, setting the tone early. The ducks were held to 32 points under their season average on the night. Oregon went on to convert on only two of the 18 from three point range.
The #2 Louisville Cardinals will now advance to the Elite Eight, taking on #1 Stanford. This NCAA Tournament will take place on Tuesday night at either the 7 or 9 p.m. slot.
