The University of Louisville releases new design for Cardinals Fans
Kentucky has quite a bit of news today in regards to license plates. If you’re a Cards fan, this will be your favorite of the day. The new Louisville license plate will launch on Friday, November 15th at County Clerk Offices. While the plate design allows for personalization, it’s also geared towards fans wanting to show off their Louisville pride.
What better way to show off your UofL Pride other than with your Louisville Cardinal license plate?
Importantly, it is good to know that a portion of sales goes back to fund scholarships for University of Louisville students. If you are purchasing a plate for the first time, you can file the application online. Those wanting to purchase a UofL plate for the first time, the cost is $56. A personalized U of L plate costs $81.
What if I currently have a UofL license plate?
Customers wanting to switch to the new UofL plate design at the time of annual renewal will pay a $31 registration fee. Customers wanting to switch to the new UofL plate design at the time of their annual renewal will pay a $56 registration fee.
Additional Information from the University of Louisville:
- While waiting for the new (black) personalized plate to be made, the current (white) plate will be renewed. It can take approximately 4 weeks to have a personalized plate remade.
- The new plate must be picked-up in your County Clerk office.
- Customers must turn in their current (white) UofL plate to the County Clerk before receiving the new plate. There will be an additional $6 decal replacement fee at this time.
Customers wanting to switch to the new UofL plate design but are not renewing their registration, the cost will be $6. The registration expiration date will not change.
- Customers will have to wait for their new (black) personalized plate to be made and shipped to the county clerk’s office. It can take approximately 4 weeks to have a personalized plate remade.
- The new plate must be picked-up in your County Clerk office.
- Customers must turn in their current (white) U of L plate to the County Clerk before receiving the new plate.
