KET to Air “Black in Blue” Documentary Highlighting Kentucky Football Segregation Breakthrough in SEC
Tomorrow – Monday, April 20th, KET will air “Black in Blue” a football documentary highlighting the University of Kentucky Wildcats, and their break through of color barriers in the SEC. It will tell a story of the first four African American football players in the Southeastern Conference. are Nate Northington, Greg Page, Wilbur Hackett, and Houston Hogg.
In 1967, Northington played his first football game, making him the first African American player to do so in the SEC. Importantly, the “Black in Blue” documentary is directed by former Kentucky quarter back – Paul Karem. The film is directed by Paul Wagner, an Academy Award winning filmmaker.
