Recap

UK Basketball entered this game ranked No. 18 in the country, following a 77-92 win against the University of Georgia.

This game would produce the Wildcats’ first SEC win on the road, which is a new test for Kentucky in what is sure to be a battle with several SEC teams ranked in the Top 25 AP Poll.

Oscar Tshiebwe put up his twelfth consecutive double-double with 13 rebounds and 30 points. As for his scoring efforts, this would also be his career high mark. It also marks the first time since 2008 that a Kentucky player has recorded at least 30 points and 10-plus rebounds in a game. Patrick Patterson recorded 33 points and 11 rebounds in that effort 14 years ago.

Of course the fans notice what Oscar has brought to this team, but his teammates also have to take a step back sometimes and take in what they’re witnessing. Brooks said, “I was on the bench, talking to Lance (Ware) or Bryce (Hopkins) and I was like ‘Oscar is really good.” He goes on to add, “I wouldn’t say I was surprised but sometimes we’ve got to take the time to appreciate what somebody really does. And Oscar has been tremendous for us all year and playing exceptionally well.”

After an outing where he would be forced to play point guard and turning that into a record-breaking 17-assists performance, TyTy Washington Jr. would see another solid performance. Although he did not reach double-digits on the assists column, he would add 15 points for the Cats.

Sahvir Wheeler, who is ranked in the Top 3 nationally in assists per game (7.3), would not see action again, after suffering a neck injury against a hard fought LSU game. He remains day-to-day, but would be greatly appreciated against Tennessee no Saturday.

The Kentucky Wildcats shot 31-of-59 from the floor, and 6-of-12 from behind the arch. That equates to 52.5% from the field shooting, with a solid 50% from behind the three point line. However, the Cats shot only 62.5% from the charity stripe, going 10-of-16.
