#20 Kentucky traveled to #12 Florida for a SEC showdown at The Swamp
The Kentucky vs Florida football game was a highly anticipated SEC matchup for the 2022 college football season. After starting ahead of Florida in the preseason Top 25 rankings, the Gators leap-frogged Kentucky in the college football rankings after a huge win over #7 Utah.
This early season test carries the weight of setting the tone for the rest of the season for both of these teams. Also, Big Blue Nation would have to travel to The Swamp. They would also be doing that without one of their best veterans suiting up, running back Chris Rodriguez.

Recap
The Kentucky Wildcats returned to The Swamp in an attempt to continue their winning streak against the Florida Gators. They would attempt this without their veteran running back and second-leading rusher in the SEC last, Chris Rodriguez. Meanwhile, Florida just bounced a #7 Utah team last week and jump 13 spots in the AP Top 25 rankings. The Gators came into the game with all of the momentum, plus home field advantage.
Florida started the game with possession of the football and they were also the first team to get on the scoreboard. After a couple of 3-and-outs for both teams, the Gators would convert on a 39-yard field goal. However, quarterback Will Levis would come fighting back. He hooked up with wideout Dane Key for a 55-yard touchdown to give UK a 7-3 lead early in the second quarter.

That’s about where the early momentum fizzled out for the Wildcats. The Gators on the other hand would score the next 13 points. This included an 11-yard touchdown run, followed by a 2-point conversion. Going into halftime, there were certainly Big Blue Nation fans who felt this huge game slipping away.
Nonetheless, theKentucky Wildcats coaching staff regrouped nicely during the break, because that momentum was flipped in the second half. Moreover, the Cats started running the ball with great success, after only picking up 2 yards in the first half. Ultimately, UK would score the final 19 points of the game. If this game of Kentucky vs Florida taught us one thing, it’s that We Run The Swamp!
