The University of Kentucky’s punter has officially been named the best punter in college football. Max Duffy wins the Ray Guy Award for NCAA’s best punter, just after teammate Lynn Bowden Jr. took home an national player of the year honor for the most versatile player in college football. The Ray Guy Award is given each year during the College Football Awards Show, which was held on Thursday. He won against two other finalist, Syracuse’s Sterling Hofrichter and Houston’s Dane Roy.
Max Duffy came to Kentucky as the #1 prospect for the class of 2018 by Ray Guy’s ProKicker.com. Hailing from Australia, the Wildcats punter certainly has a unique path but it was always destined for greatness. Although Duffy got snubbed egregiously from the All-SEC First Team by the league’s coaches this week, he averaged nearly a yard more than the winner. However, the Kentucky punter was named First Team selection by The Associated Press.
