Kentucky suffers a tough loss to Utah on the road, while Louisville remains undefeated at home against Miami (OH).
Kentucky traveled out west to face Utah for the CBS Sports Classic in Las Vegas. The Wildcats came out with a slow start, falling behind 12 points at the close of the first half. That actually marks the largest deficit they have faced thus far this season.
Coming out in the second half, Utah increased that lead to 17 points and the Wildcats finally woke up. UK made a furious run, while gaining steam in the final minutes. However, although capturing the lead again as the game closed, a call going against them and a couple of missed shots allowed Utah to hold off their run.
Kentucky will continue their efforts at the CBS Sports Classic, facing #5 ranked Ohio State on Saturday. They will either get some redemption, or suffer a 2 game slide on their west coast run.
Louisville starts slow, finishes strong against Miami (OH).
With Louisville coming into the game as solid favorites, they came out against Miami (OH) with a slow start as well. The Redhawks pulled to 44-40, cutting the Cardinal lead to 4 points with only 9 minutes remaining. Then Dwayne Sutton and Jordan Nwora came alive, leading Louisville on a 17-0 run. Sutton was inching towards double-double territory, posting 8 points and 15 rebounds. Nwora was just shy of his season average with a game-high 20 points.
