Kentucky beats Michigan State in Champions Classic

Kentucky basketball faced off with #1 ranked Michigan State last night in the Champions Classic. The event also featured a #3 Kansas matchup against #4 Duke in Madison Square Garden in New York City to kickoff the college basketball season! Duke topped Kansas in the early matchup, while Kentucky beats Michigan State in main event.

Which Kentucky Wildcats lead the efforts?

Tyrese Maxey made history in his first ever game in a Kentucky uniform. That’s saying a lot with the program sending more players to the league than any other school! While Tyrese Maxey did not actually start the game, he lead all scorers with 26 points. That number sets a record for most points in a debut game for Kentucky players! His record-setting performance included a deep 3 well behind the line with a minute left in a tight game to stretch the lead to 5 points. In addition to leading all scorers in the Champions Classic, Maxey also nabbed 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.

Tyrese Maxey and Ashton Hagans celebrate Kentucky win over #1 Michigan State by making their 9am class!
