The Keeneland January Sale 2021, otherwise known as Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale, is currently underway. This 4-day sale in Lexington, KY will run from January 11th through the 14th. Like many of us, after a year like 2020, vendors believe that the new year will bring a brighter outlook to horse country as well.
Initially there were 1,608 horses that would be featured in the 2021 catalog. However, as the sale neared, 309 were withdrawn. Therefore, as the auctioneers got things moving, a total of 1,299 horses were remained in year’s annual sale.
The Director of Sales Operations, Geoffrey Russell, believes the Keeneland November Sale is a sign of things to come. He suggest, “I think people have adjusted to the marketplace and I think it was a good, steady start to the January sale. Consignors are very happy because they have adjusted to the new normal.”
