Justins’ House of Bourbon Reportedly Gets Whiskey Seized by Kentucky ABC

Bourbon lovers, take note! The Kentucky ABC recently confiscated undisclosed amounts of the iconic spirit from Justins’ House of Bourbon in Louisville. Allegedly, they breached state law regarding acquisition and possession under suspicion that Vintage Distilled Spirits were involved. This is certainly something that helped to make the liquor store popular in the first place, it’s fine selection of limited and rare bottle selection. Nonetheless, a commotion which was initially reported on social media as having been raided by ATF agents (from their Louisville bureau). However, it turns out this agency wasn’t aware nor did not have involvement with the investigation at hand.

Kentucky ABC is making sure the best bourbon-producing state in America, Kentucky, continues to uphold its standards for top shelf booze. It was reported that Kristin Voskuhl, the executive director of communications and public outreach for the Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet, made it clear that they will be inspecting any and all premises where alcoholic beverages are handled or distributed – no search warrant required! Justins’ House of Bourbon locations recently had bottles seized due to suspected improper purchasing and sale of these products so a reminder from us: Enjoy your finest bourbons responsibly because law enforcement won’t let you get away with anything less than regulation compliant sipping.

Kentucky’s Vintage Spirits Law

Based on a 2017 law, bourbon enthusiasts no longer need to wonder what the state’s regulations are for non-licensed alcohol sellers – it’s all spelled out. Just 24 bottles in a year can be sold by any one seller, and arrangements must take place onsite at the bar or retailer facility…no shipments allowed! The liquor store also has to obtain certain details like name, address (and license number), phone numbers of both buyer/seller as well as brand names & quantity bought and date purchased before your favorite libations from Kentucky are legally qualified.

(1) The name, address, state license number, and phone number of the licensee purchasing vintage distilled spirits; (2) The name, address, and phone number of the vintage distilled spirits seller; (3) The brand name and quantity of each vintage distilled spirits package purchased; (4) The date of the purchase; and (5) The number of packages that the licensee has previously purchased from the same vin-
