Recap

The Louisville Cardinals jumped the Blue Devils to start the game, picking up a pair of touchdowns early in the first quarter. Duke trailed 14-3 at the end of the first quarter, but the Cardinals were only getting warmed up!

Louisville would add 21 more points in quarter two, while Duke could only put 6 points on the board. This would make the second straight week that the Cardinals could produce 35 points of offense in the first half alone! This marks the first time UofL has achieved such numbers in back-to-back games since doing so in the first four games of the 2016 season.

Nonetheless, Louisville led the Blue Devils to a tune of 35-9 at halftime.

The Louisville football offense was the takeaway of the game. Ultimately, the Cardinals produced a whopping 687 yards of total offense in the outing. This stellar performance ranks as the 10th-highest total all-time. UofL also set season highs with 687 total yards, 384 rushing yards, 29 first downs, and 62 points in the game. Is this peaking at just the right time for the Louisville football team? This game was earlier in the week, which means they have more time to rest against their next opponent on November 27th, the University of Kentucky!

Dukes moves to 3-8 with the loss against the University of Louisville football. UofL is now 3-0 all-time against Duke, although it should technically be 4-0. Duke once argued legally that they were the worst team in college football, therefore they shouldn’t be liable to pay for forfeiting to Louisville in a missed game. A judge actually ruled in their favor due to language in the contract. University of Louisville moves into bowl eligibility with the win, and moves to 6-5 in their 2021 football season.
