Deer Flavored Whiskey Release, Tamworth Distilling, New Hampshire

Oh deer. There’s a new whiskey in town, and yes it is deer flavored! Although not Kentucky bourbon, we certainly felt the need to share. Although we prefer bourbon over whiskey, we certainly do love our deer. Let us know what you think about this catch!

We know, antelope, but couldn’t resist. 😜

On November 14th, ‘Deerslayer’ a deer flavored whiskey will be available for purchase. The producer of the whiskey, Tamworth Distilling in New Hampshire sourced red deer venison from a local farm to produce this special batch.

What Does this Deer Flavored Whiskey Actually Taste Like?

Tamworth likes to describe it as a “surprisingly delicate-bodied whiskey flavored with the flora and fauna of New Hampshire Autumn (specifically venison.) Deerslayer is crafted with three year old white wheat whiskey. Although the main flavor is the venison, the whiskey has several other flavors such as mushrooms, cranberries, juniper berries, and green peppercorns.

Deerslayer is a 200ML bottled at 99 proof, selling at $65 a bottle. Unfortunately, the pre-order online has sold out, however, a limited amount of the deer whiskey will be available at their retail location.

Deerslayer Distillation Process

After the whiskey ferments overnight, it is then slow-smoked over a mix of seasoned branches from New Hampshire’s forests. The 3 year old white wheat whiskey has a lighter bodied background, allowing for the true flavor to shine through after it’s final distillation. The savory and smoky notes result in a one of a kind spirit. Undoubtedly, there is a subtle spice and lingering finish.
