2021 Double Eagle Very Rare Bourbon 20-Year Release

2021 Double Eagle Very Rare Bourbon 20-Year Release

Double Eagle Very Rare 2021 Release Expected This Month

When Buffalo Trace Distillery makes a surprise bourbon release, it tends to make a big splash. Bourbon lovers across the world nearly lost their minds when this happened two years ago. That release was Double Eagle Very Rare. Today this Eagle Rare expression takes front and center again. Whereas, a 2021 Double Eagle Very Rare bourbon 20-year is planned for release.

The age statement on this limited release bourbon doubles that of their standard offering. Eagle Rare itself has a 10-year age statement. While Eagle Rare 17 represents a 17-year old bourbon from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. Both of those offerings are becoming more difficult to find, with the 17-year growing to pure unicorn status.

What’s different for this 2021 bourbon release?

The 2021 Double Eagle Very Rare features one key difference from the prior two releases. This whiskey will have the highest proof of all releases to date. Previously, it had been a 90 proof offering, which matches that of Eagle Rare 10-year. Now it moves up to 101 proof, which is in line with the Eagle Rare 17-year bourbon.

This Double Eagle Very Rare 2021 release aged gracefully on the lowest floors of Buffalo Trace Distillery Warehouses.

Not only is the bourbon impressive, it’s crystal decanter and silver display case will take unboxing to the next level. The silver presentation box alone alone makes this a standout in your bourbon collection. Meanwhile, it also includes an individually numbered letter of authenticity, suggesting your whiskey collection probably shouldn’t be compared to ours.

This very limited 20-year-old bourbon whiskey also features two crystal glass eagles in the Double Eagle decanter.

MSRP Price vs Secondary Price

If you are ready to drop at least $2000 for this bourbon release, look for it on shelves this month. You will have a slim chance of running into 199 bottles of this limited bourbon release.

TASTING NOTES

“Even after two decades of aging in an oak barrel, this bourbon whiskey is surprisingly balanced. Hints of vanilla, toasted oak and caramel lead to a gracefully-aged oaky flavor. Like nothing you’ve ever tasted.”
