The 2019 Keeneland November Sale surpasses last year’s sales numbers.

For the 2019 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, there were 2,667 horses sold for a total of $200,139,400. This is a 1% increase in revenue over 2018’s thoroughbred sale saw 2,644 horses for a combined $197,851,300.

The 2019 Keeneland November Sale came to a close after 12 days of trading with significant investments from a foreign buying bench. The sale sprung into action with the premier Book 1 catalog. This group was filled with stakes-producing mares and stakes-winning fillies to match, The group added to the strength of the weanling market by producing the top-priced weanling sold at public auction in North America for 2019. This weanling was a filly by Curlin which sold for $775,000.

Book 1 had a total of 14 horses that went for $1 million-plus. This nearly doubles the amount achieved in 2018, and the strongest showing since 2011. The highest grossing horse, Take Charge Brandi, who is also in foal to 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify brings home $3.2 million. Eskimo Kisses, who is in foal to Curlin, sold for $2.3 million to Shadai Farm. Callback, who is in foal to Medgalia d’Oro, sold for $2 million to Katsumi Yoshida.
